If a movie could be my soul mate this would be the one. I was hooked the second Mr. Fox savagely tore into his breakfast. I watched this movie for the first time on my birthday and it felt like it was made just for me. The style of the film and the wit of the characters make it one of the most intriguing films I’ve ever seen.
Stop motion animation was the perfect style for the film adaptation. You can sense that somebody’s moving these physical objects and making them seem alive. As the animators re-position the models between frames, the bristles in the models’ fur get pushed around, creating the effect that the fur is just as alive as the character. Little quirks like this made me like the movie that much more. The range of facial expressions is incredible and the voice acting is top notch. The film also has a tactile feel with material used and the tiny details of their world. The film is whimsical, beautiful, and one of a kind. It really is fantastic.
